Laura Brown

Hi there! I'm Laura Brown. I have been teaching for many years; in museum education, as a K-12 Arts Specialist in the public schools and as an Interpreter for Washington State Parks. I have worked as a Camp Host for four different Washington State Parks and have a deep connection to nature. I have a Masters in Art from California Institute for the Arts, and an undergraduate degree from George Washington University, DC.

My philosophy is to create an online education environment that feels safe, calming and is focused on the needs of the student. I believe every student has innate creativity, and I am very committed to supporting students in developing that. My interest is in empowering the student by letting the creative process fuel their individual interests and passions, and to support them to solve their own problems and challenges.

I like to integrate physical activities with the online process to make the process more enriching. Humor is very important! I love animals, and am happy to have students have their pets nearby them as we work online.
